Background:
This plugin is similar to the one that vbGeek had for vb3.x some time ago, however as it appears to be dead, I have had a similar one built from the ground up. It was a handy plugin, but it didnt do SEO friendly links which I wanted, so I built this (and am now releasing it to the community.
What it Does:
this plugin automatically turns any instance of a word into a link on your forum. The word must appear within the body text of a forum post only (ie. it wont mess with other content on the site).
DEMO:
Check out this page: http://seoforums.org/auto-link-vbull...link-demo.html (http://seoforums.org/auto-link-vbulletin/563-autolink-demo.html)
Why is that Useful?
It has two main uses, one is for on site SEO optimization of keyword terms and internal linking, for instance I want to point any instances of the term "seo blog" to my seo blog page. This plugin ensures maximum internal linking to the correct page of my choice.
The other use is for affiliate links, I used to run a large poker forum, and I used a similar plugin (the one by Geek) to change every instance of the word "pokerstars" into an affiliate link to that site.
(a third use, although Im not suggesting that you do this, Im just saying you could is to use it to monetize your site by selling links, for instance, I might be able to sell every instance of the word "seo" on my site to an SEO company... kind of like affiliate linking, but for SEO purposes. I AM NOT ADVOCATING SELLING LINKS, Im just saying you could http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif
